Journal #8

Collaboration is defined as the action of working with someone to produce or create something. A collaboration can be found in all different genres of writing including everyday writing. The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word collaboration is when two music artist collaborate to produce a piece of music. The two or more artist come together and create a song together. They create the lyrics, sheet music, and the rest of the music that goes into the song. Another form of collaboration that comes to mind when thinking of the word is when a director of a movie and the writer come together to make the script come to live. They have to work together to make what the writers vision was come to life.

In regards to collaboration in everyday writing I believe it plays a huge role. The newspaper I believe is the biggest form of everyday writing collaboration that we see. A newspaper shares its work, ideas, and stories in order to produce one. It goes through editors to make sure everything looks perfect then back to the writers of articles to correct and then back again to the editors finalize. Like in the article about Harry Potter, the Daily Prophet newspaper combines the work of multiple people in order to get news around the world of wizardry. As almost everyone keeps pointing out about Emily's post, scrapbooks are a prime example of a collaboration in everyday writing. People work together whether it be family or friends to create a book filled with pictures and passages or writing.
